This October, BioWeek 2025 will turn Paris into the global stage for biological innovation.
For one remarkable week, the city will be alive with more than 20 independently organized events, all united by a common purpose: to shine a light on biology as one of the most powerful, yet underappreciated, drivers of innovation for the 21st century.
We live in a time where AI, quantum, and robotics dominate headlines, but biology is quietly reshaping the world. From human health and food systems to materials, energy, climate, and industry, biology is delivering answers to some of our greatest challenges.
And yet, it is still too often absent from the big stage.
BioWeek is here to change that, to broadly connect the ecosystem, amplify its voice, celebrate its people and ideas, and invite the world to join in.
Why BioWeek Exists
France has long been a global force in biology: from Louis Pasteur’s breakthroughs in microbiology and vaccines, to the 1965 Nobel Prize for Monod & Jacob’s discovery of gene regulation, to the identification of HIV in the 1980s. That history now fuels a modern, fast-growing ecosystem, home to world-class research institutions, thriving startup hubs, and bold industrial players.
In the 5 past years, the French government committed €6.3 billion through France 2030 to boost biomanufacturing capacity, not just for health, but also for green chemistry, enzymes, biomaterials, and sustainable production. In 2022, the iGEM Grand Jamboree, the world’s largest synthetic biology gathering, moved from Boston to Paris, bringing over 5,000 young innovators from all over the world every year.

What to Expect During BioWeek
From October 25 to November 2, Paris will host a constellation of more than 20 events, from the iGEM Grand Jamboree (also hosting the international Synthetic Biology 8.0 conference and the BioInnovation Summit), to industry events, founders gatherings, investor breakfasts, open lab tours for students and the public, creative workshops, public science events, BioWeek will offer something for everyone interested in, or building with, biology.

BioWeek is not a single event or central organizer. It is a unifying label that connects independent initiatives under a common narrative. Organizers keep full ownership and control of their events; BioWeek’s role is to amplify, connect, and celebrate.
